TED: Carl Safina On the Spill

No hiding the truth; Carl Safina makes an impassioned address here to the TED Oil Spill event attendees. It’s generally very difficult to shock me into an emotional response whenever we are discussing tragedies of the seas – at this point I’m pretty well versed on every facet of conservation’s hardest issues – but Safina definitely got me going with this talk. Hard to hear, hard to digest, hard to respond to.. and that’s perhaps the reason I wanted to share his lecture.

Safina strikes exactly the tone we do not need, and the kind that we cannot afford not to have: the emotional address, if it avoids desperation, may be the only way to truly motivate the masses.
